I get asked the question “How do I reorder my current positions on LinkedIn?” almost on a daily basis. Before today I would’ve said that there isn’t any way to reorder your positions: LinkedIn automatically organized your positions in chronological order.
Yesterday, LinkedIn made a change to “Edit Profile” mode that allows you to reorder your current positions in whatever way you’d like. For example, if you have multiple positions or are a 1099 employee for a company, you can now reorder your profile so the job that is most important to you is displayed first.
Here is my layout for my current positions:
Lets say that I wanted my “Head of Promotions” position to appear first. To reorder, Go to “Edit Profile” mode and scroll down to your experience section. If you hover over one of your positions in the experience section, you’ll see the position turn blue and say “Drag to rearrange current positions.”
Simply click on that position and drag it up or down to rearrange where it appears in your profile.
When you refresh your page you’ll see that in your profile box, it reordered your current position to the one you put highest on your experience section.
This also now works for your recommendations. If you have a recommendation that you would like to appear higher in your recommendations, follow the same steps to reorder which recommendation appears first.

Is there a way to change the position that is displayed when a user ‘hovers’ over your LinkedIn name.
I currently have two positions and would like to swap the postion that is displayed within the profile preview box..
Any help much appreciated.
